Mechanical Designer / PTC Creo (Part-Time Contract) - Akron, Ohio - Job 26-00208

Pay Range: $30.00 - $50.00/HR
Contract / Temporary (8–12 Weeks)
Part-Time – 20 Hours per Week

A leading custom machine design manufacturing company in the Akron, Ohio area is seeking an experienced PTC Creo CAD Designer / Drafter for a short-term contract assignment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented CAD professional with strong 3D modeling and 2D drafting experience in industrial or manufacturing environments. This company is recognized as a trusted supplier in the tire and rubber machinery industry, designing specialized equipment such as:

• Bias Cutting Systems (belt & ply production)
• Tread Skiver Systems
• Bale Cutting Systems
• Sidewall Grinding Systems
• Vent Trimming Systems
• Material handling equipment (trucks, cassettes, carts)

Key Responsibilities:

• Convert 3D solid models into detailed 2D manufacturing drawings
• Create accurate solid models from legacy paper and PDF drawings
• Ensure drawings meet manufacturing and production standards
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams as needed
• Maintain organized CAD files and documentation

Required Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in PTC Creo (2D & 3D CAD design)
• Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
• Experience with machine design or industrial manufacturing drawings
• Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a part-time contract role

Preferred Experience:

• Background in custom machinery or equipment design
• Experience working with legacy drawing conversions
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabrication standards
