Quality / Metrology Engineer - Newton Falls, Ohio - JOB 25-01723

Salary Range: $80k - $90k Permanent Position with Benefits

Newton Falls, Ohio area Manufacturing Company seeks an experienced Quality / Metrology Engineer serving as the subject matter expert (SME) to lead the development, validation, and management of dimensional measurement systems. Experienced with CMMs, vision systems, and precision instruments to ensure product conformance, supporting PPAP submissions, and driving continuous improvement in dimensional quality.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality / Reliability Engineering with a minimum of (3) years of hands-on metrology or dimensional quality experience with automotive or injection molding.
• Develop and optimize Zeiss Calypso CMM or other CMM programs, vision systems, and optical measurement equipment.
• Continuous conversion of CMM programs into gages/fixtures.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, SPC, IMDS, and statistical tools.
• Experience with PPAP, APQP, validating dimensional layouts including FMEAs, control plan development and on-time submissions.
• Create inspection routines, work instructions, calibration procedures, and control plans.
• Identify CTQ dimensions and ensure effective measurement strategies with engineering teams.
• Lead gage selection, Gage R&R studies, and evaluate new technologies like laser scanning and in-line metrology.
• Continuous improvements - provide dimensional root-cause analysis, identify systemic measurement errors, implement corrective actions and improve inspection methods.
• Provide Training to Quality Inspectors on GD&T, metrology tools, engineering / customer specifications and drawing interpretation.
• Support internal and external audits, including IATF and customer requirements.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
