Electrical Controls Engineer - Boardman, OH - JOB 26-00414

Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 Full-time Permanent Position with Benefits
1st Shift: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (M-F)

A Boardman, Ohio manufacturer that seeks to hire an experienced Controls Engineer. This role provides critical technical support for engineered products, focusing on electrical components and related systems, and is responsible for ensuring all unit control systems satisfy applicable codes and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and approve proprietary Dearing Unit Control Panels (UCPs) and associated PLC programming.
  • Review and formally approve comprehensive engineering documents, including customer specifications, Sequence of Operations for UCPs, Unit Control Panel drawings, and Motor Control Center (MCC) drawings.
  • Generate, review, and approve all necessary electrical documentation, including loop drawings, I/O lists, and load lists.
  • Provide expert technical support and hands-on troubleshooting assistance to Dearing shop personnel, field service teams, and end-users for problems encountered on the test stand and in the field.
  • Perform or assist with programming, hardware modifications, or control philosophy upgrades to unit control panels to meet design specifications and customer-specific requirements.
  • Specify necessary hardware and manage the process of requesting quotations for project components.
  • Answer technical questions related to the integration of customer-supplied devices into the control system architecture.

Required Qualifications

  • A four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or 3–5 years of related professional experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Required experience in PLC programming, with a focus on Allen Bradley platforms.
  • Proven proficiency with 2D CAD software and multiple PLC Programming environments (Allen Bradley, Red Lion, and Allen Bradley HMIs).
  • Knowledge of design software, project management software, spreadsheet, and word processing applications is a plus.
